Ame means “rain” in Japanese but we interpret it as “Tears of the Earth.”
Kenny Endo wrote the title piece “Ame” after 9/11 and dedicated it to all victims of aggression in the world. The concert AME, Tears of the Earth is our effort to create something positive in a spirit of unity and respect for diversity. We hope to counter negativity with love and creativity through this musical performance.
Joining Kenny Endo and Taiko Center of the Pacific are three special guests from
New York, Portland, and Toronto – Sumie Kaneko, Amelia Lukas, and Aki Takahashi. Also featured in the concert are the innovative contemporary dance company Peter Rockford Espiritu and Tau Dance Theatre and local percussion phenom Abe Lagrimas, Jr. Sumie Kaneko, Abe Lagrimas Jr, and Amelia Lukas perform with the Kenny Endo Contemporary Ensemble on the mainland.
Taiko Center of the Pacific will be premiering three new numbers composed by Elizabeth Mager, Given Yagi, and the Taiko Center of the Pacific Yourh Group!
Hope to see you there!
